Low Income Housing Tax Credit Program

The Low Income Housing Tax Credit Program is the nation's largest federally-supported programs that generates affordable housing.  Administered at the federal level by the Department of Treasury, it is operated with little civil rights oversight.  The program involves a complicated system of tax credit sales to generate capital to construct housing.  In Connecticut, this is administered by the Connecticut Housing Authority, which sets the criteria for awarding the credits.
